The Standard Bearer

Religion - any religion helps install a common agreement of what is 'right' and what is 'wrong'.

Early religion provided rules. Most countries now have laws which also provide the rules.

Cheers!
If all the Religions could agree on a standard set of morals and values (and enforce them) the world would probably be a better place!

The church's mission (at least Christian churches) is to teach and guide people about living a Christ-like life. That has a lot of overlap with being moral - it's hard to imagine Jesus any other way - but it doesn't mean they are the same thing. There are some parts of a Christian life that have to do with faith and belief, which isn't the same thing as being a good/moral person.

It is very possible for people to be moral without the church, and to be "Christian" without being moral. The church is a human insitution, even with divine guidance, and may fail to provide moral help, like back when it supported slavery, segregation, etc.

The role of any church is to read and teach the Word of God, and encourage people to follow Jesus no matter what the circumstances. At this point in time, I believe the role of the Church is to help people get ready for the Rapture.

Religions do not have a cornerstone on morals. They often preach one thing and practice another... are you for real? Religious leaders are akin to politicians that "improvise" the truth to suit an immediate situation! Wake up! Be real. Look around you and see what's going on with the so-called religious leaders of the world today! They hide behind the myth of truth and morality... but it's still a myth!

the church operates under a certain code/standard such as a bible stipulates, that has specified a modus operandi for its followers. It explains how one should relate with others and with God. when followed clearly and with wisdom, the bible for example would ensure that all people live in harmony with God, themselves and others as well as nature. Virtues such as love, justice, mercy, forgiveness, patience, respect, giving to the poor, doing to thers what you wish they do to you e.t.c. The bible also describes vices that followers should avoid. This goes along way in ensuring that people with sound morals. Jesus sums the whole idea with "Love your God with all your heart, mind and body and love your neigbour as you love yourself." If followed, the world would be another heaven! Good luck with morals!

It should just give you grounds for your morals but not make your decisions for you. One also must be aware that some dogma is archaic. Or doesnt apply to the now.

Think about it for a minute. There isn't a single problem facing world today that couldn't be eliminated if people fell to they knees, asked for forgiveness and began to follow Jesus.
