8.
All spiders have eight legs, althoug a few ant-mimicking species use their front legs to imitate antennae, which spiders lack. Their eyes are single lenses rather than compound eyes, ranging from simple light/dark-receptors to eyes rivalling that of a pigeon (some jumping spiders).

8 legs but sometimes they'll lose one or more for some reason. However, spiders will get them back through a series of moulting. Like snakes, spiders molt when they grow and shed their old skin. If they are missing a leg, with each molt a new leg begins to form and get longer until it is the length of the rest.

Spiders belong to the order Araneida in the class Arachnida.
The body is composed of two major units, the cephalothorax (head and chest) and opisthosoma (abdomen). There are 6 pairs of appendages on the cephalothorax, two pairs are used in feeding, and the other 4 for walking. So, yes, to be a spider, it has to have 8 "walking legs".
SPIDERS ARE NOT INSECTS.

I've had this debate before, 90% of spiders have eight legs hence (arachnid) but however there is one or 2 that have 6 legs.
