Jess is 8 months old and when she walks with her baby walker she drags her left foot, whe she walks olding my hand she doesnt though. She stands and seems to curl her foot more and has it facing outwards but has the other one straigh and not curling her feet, what could it be. Im going to take her to the doctors 1st thing. Is there any websites for foot problems in babies?

every child is different...she's only 8 months old and the muscles are just starting to strengthen...IF she starts doing this while learning to walk on her own..NOT in the walker...to ease your mind...talk to your doctor.

This could be a sign of the startings of a condition known as Talipes, or clubfoot. As the child develops, keep a acheck on the shape of the foot and look to see whether it curls in naturally when you are, for example, laying her in her crib or changing her diaper. There are several different types of Talipes, the most common being Talipes Equinovarus, where the foot malforms so that the child is effectively walking on their toes and heel, without the center area of the foot touching the floor.
The condition is correctible by the wearing of a splint to hold the foot in place while the child is walking, and then later, when older, the child would undergo an operation to break and reshape the foot, thus setting it back into the correct position.
I would very strongly advise you see your pediatrician as soon as you can humanly manage.

I agree with the person that says baby walkers are not good. It actually makes them lazy. They tend to depend on them. I have 4 kids and never used a walker with any of them. However two of my kids have developed problems with their feet. When they walk their feet tend to curl inwards (like the two big toes touching each other). I had taken them to an orthopaedic doctor who recommended them using special boots which forces the feet to be kept straight when they walk. These boots are pretty expensive and I had to get new ones every 6 months or sooner. Growing feet. However I decided to take them for a second opinion and this time to a orthopaedic surgeon that specialises in children feet problem. He discovered that they were walking this way because their hips were not aligned properly. The boots were doing no good. Not helping in anyway. He gave me a series of exercises for them to do. One was riding a bicycle. He says mostly this rectifies when they are around 12years old, If not then we would have to consider surgery. They are 6 & 8 now. They go once a year to have the hips measured. Get two or three opinions. For peace of mind see a doctor a.s.a.p. Hope all goes well with the little one. (((((hugs to baby))))). My baby is almost two and how I wish she would stop growing and stay as cute as they are at this age. Enjoy your baby Catherina

Do not let past feelings for him skew your perceptions. Look at the situation clinically, if you can. Scenario A: Father is a part of the baby's life. Father must be willing and able... child will benefit. Scenario B: Father is NOT part of the baby's life. Father must make child support payments... child will benefit. Scenario C: You let your feelings confuse your decisions and get a blend a A and B, which just confuses the child and hurts you!!! Screw that jerk, to be honest. If he wants to be a part of the kid's like, it is HIS job to take the pro-active role in the situation. You can't force him and you shouldn't have to. Meanwhile, relax, enjoy your pregnancy, and don't let that deadbeat get you down.

Gosh, I'm sorry! I don't know of any websites. I just wanted to tell you that baby walkers shouldn't be used for more than 10 minutes a day. They teach babies to walk the wrong way, according to every physical therapist I've ever met (they gave me the 10 min. rule for my son) Your little girl seems to fit that case here. Just from what you've said, I think you should keep her out of it, so her habit doesn't cross over to her 'real' walking :) Good luck and happy mothering! :)

my mom put up all us in walker she has 6 kids nothing wrong with our walking. shore you dont have it set to low her feet should just hit the floor enough to push it but not to low. my lil girl love her's i let her say in long as she wanted to. i would take her change her feed her let he lay on in the floor play for an bit. then let her get back in it. i truely think it helped her learn to walk.
