im born the twelv of april 1986 at 03.15 am in portsmouth england.
he is born the 11 dec 1981 not sure what time in portsmouth also.
can anyone see this as a long lasting relationship?

You must look to the whole chart to see what type of people you are attracted to not just your own sun sign and the other person's sun sign.

What aspects do your Sun, Moon and Ascendant make?

The 1st house is you, your personality and appearance..
The 5th house rules love affairs.
The 7th house rules partnerships.
The 8th house rules sexuality.

What planets are in the above houses and what aspects do they make? What signs are those planets in? What sign is on the cusp of those houses? What elements (fire, earth, air & water) and qualities (cardinal, fixed & mutuable) are involved?

Any sign can be with any other sign. It all depends on your whole chart, based on your DATE, PLACE, EXACT TIME of birth, not just your Sun signs.

Your whole chart then is then compared to the other person's whole chart using a technique called Synastry.

The aspects between each other's planets and points must be looked at and interpreted. The planets in each others houses must be looked at and interpreted, both ways. Affinities must be looked for. It's not simple to a layperson, but it is to people who are educated in Astrology terminology.

my husband's birthday is April 12, and my birthday is Dec 1. I know for myself that the aries man and myself a sags female, is the best relationship i have ever had. Don't get me wrong, we do have a misunderstanding from time to time, but nothing that last over an hour. I am 42 and he is 62.
I've been married twice and lived with a man for 5 years and all 3 were virgo's.

It depends. If you are counting on astrology to plan your life... it will be whatever the book says. If you are talking about a healthy balanced relationship based on mutual respect and understanding, it will be a fine relationship. My sister and I have similar birthdays, and we love being angry at eachother. By best friend and I are the same and we never argue. Never count on a couple of the billions of stars to dictate your life. Use it instead to help offer other suggestion, and inspire you to look at a situation from a different perspective. Beware "self-fufilling prophecy" and you'll go far.
