War and killing is never satisfactory. I will be very concerned if it is. But on the other hand, how many of these "terrorist groups" are willing to discuss their problems over a cup of tea? Any discussion that is to have any real effect is pointless without their involvement.

Take a look at these "terrorist groups". What is their background? Most, if not all, originated from poor and/or war torn countries.

The international community should pour aid and resources into the development of these poor and war torn nations. Raise the standard of living to a level above acceptable conditions. It is not an easy task, but definitely cheaper than war and faster that endless talks... with gains for both the receiver and giver.

This will solve the deeper reason on why these "terrorist groups" exist. I don't believe it will solve everything, but I truly believe it will solve most of it.

Yes, but the "War on Terrorism" is more than dropping some bombs. That is the tip of iceberg. What lies beneath is the work of the FBI, CIA, NSA, MII-5, Scotland Yard and all the other agencies. We just see the violence because that is what is easy to see. Ignoring the the threat of Islamic fascists would be akin to ignoring Hitler. You see how well that worked for Europe in the 30's and 40's. Will this go on for a long time, unfortunately, yes. But there is no other option. I support negotiations, but it has to have satisfactory results for the free world.

If we stop now expect them to multiply and become more structured, united, and powerful. Another 9/11 will inevitable. Take Hezbollah for example, they killed 241 American marines in 1983 when they were a mere splinter of another terror organization. Not much happened in retaliation and now they are more powerful than the Lebanese army. These terrorist are educated from birth to hate Israel and America. They are taught that Martyrdom is the most useful way to bring respect to their families and the most glorious way to get into heaven. 9/11 will dwarf in comparison to what awaits us if we stop now. The nations that support them are the disease. Terrorism is merely a symptom of the disease. No matter if we stop the war or not there will be terrorism. If we don't kill the disease totally a relapse that will be more resistant to current tactics is inevitable Though if we strive forward, overtime these tyrannical regimes such as Iran, North Korea, and Syria will fall from with in due to heavy sanctions or dictates from their political "parent countries" such as Russia and China.

to start with iam in my 40s so i guess i would not be doing the physical actions of crossing a border carrying a weapon or driving one to the so called battlefield or flying one to it,saying that,if i was phsicaly able and allowed i would join up and i would be on the front line against the terrorists.you say without the use of force,ok thats the perfect absolute solution and no adults and no children get killed, the sad facts are that the Useless Numskull(UN)tried to talk to THAT MURDEROUS TYRANNIST namely SADAM and even tried sanctions, did it do any good?no it did not so the troops had to be sent in but the troops did not go all the way to BAGDAD.and there was SADAM to continue his cruel cruel killings on his own nationals and still threaten those countries in his region, less you forget that man actualy used chemical weapons on IRAQUI people.yeah a real friendly guy.Now we have the neighbouring country IRAN saying Israel should be wiped from the face of the earth and trying to develope a nuclear capability think about that for a while.and is currently financing and arming the HEZBOLLAH and we all know what there at,
Another thing is that these terrorists groups have shot reporters, hung and beheaded innocents, stoned and raped and hung women, used their own holy places as weapon depots, used schools to hide in and used ordinary poor people as human shields,we in the west are standing by doing sweet F.A. and thats the worse crime of all when you stand back and look at it.Yes im for the war on terror if thats what its to be called.Remember where would we all in europe be today if hitler was not defeated and he was not too far behind in the race to develope the atomic bomb and need i say where he would have dropped it if HE GOT IT.....I REST MY CASE

Terrorism is when someone enforces a way of life on a group, through what ever means possible. The terrorists have been sucsesful that way, (their actions have changed our way of living to a degree)... For them to try and take away the freedom that the western society so rightfully faght for in WWII, is b.s.. Canada is thought of as a mosaic, where the US is thought of as a melting pot, but in both cases, you can have your own religion without fear of being hauled off by the government, (in that regaurd the terrorists will never win). As for how our forces do, in the middle east, and weather I support those actions... I think our forces are going to make a difference, in make this world a better place, so yes I support them.

Open discussion doesn't seem to work when there are so many negative things going on with each side. Both sides seem to have the "I win, you lose" approach, when it should ALWAYS be the "win/win" approach to ANY conflict.
As for war on terrorism, I think it is an absurd title & should be dumped. Nothing is going to end this, not with the current leaders (of all countries involved) anyway. It seems to be a power struggle rather than what is best for humanity. I'm over it & am just so glad my children wont know such hatred for another race/religion.
Is very disheartening to know that there are so many young children who are unable to simply enjoy being a kid because they are being raised by such extreem people who have no real lives so they join this "war on terror". Its a screamimg joke.

Terrorism is all about revenge, but on who by who? The developed states like America have at their convenience created some persons and used them to fight their wars. On achieving their ends, they leave the people disatisfied and feeling used. Besides, the people used in this case may not agree with the masters in this case and may not allow the superpowers rape the country they sought to "democratise". They turn back on their former masters who are now their enemies. Africa has greatly suffered from such cases, the issue being its rich mineral and oil deposits. How I wish that all were genuine. The world would be safer, equal and happier! By the way, why is it that Russia and China do not support America on some actions like on Iraq, Iran and North Korea? Food for thought!

Support of force ignores the root of the problem.

You can kill all the terrorists you want but more will always be there. That alone makes the "War On Terror" unwinnable. As long as the US continues to bomb "terrorist locations" radical muslim clerics can use that as ammunition to recruit more members. The US plays right into the terrorists hands by doing so. Clerics can point and say "The US hates Muslims. Fight!"

The solution is far more difficult than pushing the button to release a 2000lb bomb. It requires people to look inside themselves and set aside prejudices that have been around hundreds of years.

I dont think that war is a good idea to fight against terrorism.U r right in ur point "KILLING 1 , 100s OTHER WILL B READY TO JOIN". Though its not that easy 2 have a open discussion but some will have to take this step, but peace talks can get the desired results. but it doesnt seem 2 b the view of political leaders they just use there military power to show off the world there power. dont knw wt wil happen but let's hope for the best .
