you can go to radio-shack or even walmart and buy a wireless router-you can get what you need for approx-65-100$ depending on what style you choose. we have a wireless router, and it works well-even laptops that have the wireless card, can use internet through your wireless connection.

Connect the other PC. If it is wireless, search for that wireless router. Most Routers enable connections for upwards or 4 to 12 computers. Just Look in the back and connect the Ethernet (bigger but in similarity to a phone cord) from the second PC to to the router

G'day,

Unfortunately you did not mention the brand or model of the router.

I am assuming that the 2nd computer has its own ethernet card already. If not... you will need to buy one and install it first.
1. Buy an ethernet switch from your local computer shop. You may also want to buy 1 straight ethernet cable and 1 cross-over ethernet cable.
2. Turn on your gf's comp and click Start-Run. Type cmd and press enter.
3. A DOS window will appear. Type: ipconfig /all
4. Note the information given on "Dhcp Enabled". I am assuming the status is Yes
5. Turn off the router.
6. Unplug the ethernet cable (between gf's PC & router) from the router and plug it to the ethernet switch
7. Connect straight ethernet cable to switch and 2nd comp
8. Connect cross-over ethernet cable to router and switch
9. Turn on router and wait until connection light on
10. Check internet connection in gf's PC if is it working OK
11. Turn on 2nd pc and it should be connection to internet.

Hope this helps. Good luck!!

Plug the 2nd computer to the 2nd ethernet port of the router using a Ethernet Cable. Restart all the systems...i.e. Modem, router and pc....preferably in the same sequence.

Because it is a router make sure that the IP is set to automatically assigned. Also have your work groups set up to be able to share folders and such which can be done through the wizard.

The router will likely have a particular volume of outfitted-in firewall protections; examine your guide to be confident. this can protect from *some* themes, so that's more effective acceptable than no longer something, besides the undeniable fact that that's no longer foolproof. The antivirus software you've were given one the only gadget gained't protect the different... except you could installation it on that gadget as well. examine your licensing; you're in a position to position in it on distinctive platforms. one way or the different, the 2d gadget must have some type of secure practices on it.
