Telephones that are plugged into the wall (landlines ) are the best. Cellphones are the worst invention ever made. They take away from the concentration of drivers (they are too busy yapping on the phone to pay attention to what they are doing behind the wheel. People do not believe in turning them off when in restaurants, theatres and other public places (they just yap away and don't care who hears their conversation or who they disturb. People cannot carry on a conversation with a person they are with without the phone going off (they answer the phone and yap forgetting they were in the middle of a conversation with a live person next to them). People become too involved in their conversations that they don't watch where they are walking (saw a person walk into a telephone pole while yapping on a telephone, it was great) Cellphones have taken away the common courtesies that we were raised with. I spent well over 40 years before they were invented, don't own one and don't want one.

Cell phones have to be constantly recharged, and can be quite expensive to talk on them in peak hours. However, they are good for emergencies, House phones are cheaper to use, but not practical to take in a car. If you have the money, and aren't afraid of losing your cell. then that's the way to go.I have both phones, maybe one day the cell bill will come down in price.

Well there are advantages and disadvantages to both, but I think that cellphones are better because when there is an emergency and no telephone or payphone in sight then you can use your cellphone. Also it is somewhat cheaper to call friends and relatives from other states or if they are in a far part of your country.
