I feel you should get some help from your local housing authority.Landlords can do just about anything they want to.I would be looking into moving elsewhere. It's very disturbing to know that they know about your son's problem and haven't done anything about it,hopefully your have a fan to use,and with the window situation, that is totally riduculous.I would report them to the better business bureau.Good Luck.

If it is stated in the rental contract that the landlord must provide air conditioning, then you have a case to confront her.Since your son has all kinds of respiratory problems, the Health Department and the Housing Authority in your county could help you.In Missouri,if the doctor write a DOCTORS ORDER for air conditioning then it must be provided. When I lived in Florida and my air went out,I was told by the Housing Authority that the landlord must provide a way for you to heat the home, but does not require a method of cooling the home.

Sounds like this house is an unhealthy place for your children to live. You may want to seriously think about moving. Sounds like it's not going to improve any time soon.

Around here A/C isn't a "right" unless it's expressely written as a feature of the apartment (i.e offered as part of the contract). Maybe it's different where you are?

Bottom line: this guy doesn't care. Move on!

well ... it doesn't sound like you're living in a HUD section 8 or public housing unit. They at least have rules and regulations. You might try going to court or, better still, just move out.
