People need to protect themselves by always using a condom and not being promiscous. Only have sex with a partner whom you can trust. Always use a condom.

If you are worried you should have a test. Then you can have treatment.

In Africa there are millions of people dying from Aids and cannot afford treatment because their govt. is very corrupt and keeps the aid which is sent from world agencies. An no amount of dogooders like Bono Geldof or Clinton will stop this unless they tackle the Pharmecutical companies.

This is ideed shameful. Zambia in particular is guilty of this. Most African countries have corrupt governments, and despite this need for money being an eternal botomless pit, the money usually ends up in the bank accounts of their corrupt leaders.

If your Indian govt. is genuinely concerned about the spread of Aids, then the way to tackle an Aids epidemic is to get the Drug companies to hand over the patent rights to the otherwise expensive drugs. This would enable them to produce a Generic form of the Anti Retroiviral which is currently prohibitvely expensive in most third world countrie.

A worldwide law need to be passed to break the strangehold the greedy Pharmecutical companies have on the patent rights of the vital drugs which can keep people alive.

Sadly just like our governments everywhere.... it all comes down to greed. The drug companies and their very greedy shareholders will not agree to this.

A massive educational campaign needs to be started immediately. I saw a sobering statistic that in India approximately 25 million people will die from AIDS in the next 20 years if things don't change immediately. The educational campaign should include what AIDS is and what it isn't, how it can and can't be caught, and that the use of condoms reduces (but not eliminates) the risk. Certain customs also need to be addressed, but I won't go into that here.

As most Indian's are illiterate people, the government has to bring more Public Awareness by Sticking the HIV/Aids Posters in all the languages around the corners, special the radio can do a great job in this all the Stations in different languages can announce this in their channels, as an advertisement, not only the Gov Channels the government should also make it compulsory for the Private Radio/TV Channels to advertise in the channels. this will really create a big impact on all the people who are not educated also, as they can at-least hear if they are not able to read.

Awareness, its the best way. Awareness about the means by which HIV/AIDS is transmitted, awareness about its available drugs specially in rural areas. Try not to hate the diseased hate the disease. Rest Carrie had already told u.

Start with yourself.

Ensure your own protection from the deadly virus.

Get a group of friends and spread the word around.

The disease is spread on the highways and under red lights. Can you reach out to these places and educate the people there???
