Neither - pretty sure this is why the suburbs exist, so you don't have to choose. They are kind of a happy medium between the two. You get the amenities of the city such as good shopping (variety of food of all ethnicity's as well as goods), plenty of restaurants and services, high-speed internet and easy freeway access. And you get the benefits of country living such as room between you and your neighbors so you can have serenity and privacy and the beauty of mature trees and starlit nights. I am referring to the older suburbs where the solid brick houses are on acre plus lots.

Not those nasty mcmansion atrocities. That they slap together on 1/4 acre lots with the 'common areas' where everyone is all jammed together with twig trees and land stripped of topsoil. There you can hear your neighbor's toilet flush and hound dog bark incessantly because the windows are so cheap, and the brick is only veneer.

I live in a small town (5,000). I don't live IN the country, but this is close enough. I DO, however, have a field of corn across the street, so some might consider this country.
I've lived in a big city, and I like this much better. It's safer and cleaner and friendlier.

I would like to live in a rural area, but not too far away from a city. I would like to have a little piece of land, a couple of horses, a nice house, but still have access to shopping, the arts, movies etc. with having to drive a long distance.

In the country. If I ever won the lottery (lol), I would build my house right in the middle of 1000 acres. We live in a town of less than 300 and I hate it. I hate nosey neighbors and people who won't keep their animals on their own property.

I would love the privacy of a large acerage. No privacy window treatments. No worrying about making too much noise or having your neighbors make too much noise. Aaaahhh Heaven on earth.

Country, so I can do what ever I want and I have privacy. I can drive anywhere I want with out the B.S. traffic of the city.
