It's a very confusing time isn't it! About the free travel thing - that usually depends who you are doing the apprenticeship with, e.g. if it is through a training provider you normally would, but if it's direct through the employer then maybe not - it does vary though.

If you fancy a change from six form, why don't you go to college? Generally speaking, they have a really good choice of courses on, but there is much more freedom - you can come and go inbetween lessons, you can wear what you want, meet new people, etc - although if you go to college you need to have much more self discipline as they don't chase you around like they do at school!

Just really think about things first - have a look at connexions website, or even better, go in to see someone. Whatever you do, make sure it's your choice, not someone elses, as it's your life.

Lastly, if you're not sure what career you'd like to end up in, or if you're considering uni in the future, you might be better off doing a course rather than an apprenticeship, as you can decide later what to do... But if you already know what you're interested in, follow that - Good luck, and enjoy!

Hey, I am starting sixth form at my school in September (hoping I get the grades!), the reason I chose to do so was because I already know the teachers, the sorroundings and I will already know the people there, even though there are some new people. If you go to college you are just a number, and the teacher won't really know who you are as there are so many people passing through their class room daily. If you fall behind in college there won't really be anyone to help you, but at sixth form theachers are there pushing you along and encouraging you. Those are my reasons for staying on anyway!

I'm not sure if you will still benefit from things such as free travel if you take up an apprenticeship as this may not be classed as 'full-time education'.

Good luck. x

Decide what you want as a career. If A'levels will help 6th form would be a good idea if you need more support to get things done etc. I wish i had gone to college first as there was more variety & it was more independent & relaxed. Apprentichips are a good idea if you know what tou want to do & you usually get some time in college so you sould still get a student Id card which saves you money on all sorts. Good Luck.
P.S Do what you feel is right don't be goverened by your parents

6th form in the shcool - although being where you have been for the past 5 years - is a totally different atompshere. The situation changes and a lot more respect is given to you be teachers and peers.

If that is where you can get the courses you want, then that is where you're going to have to study them.

There is a deal for apprenticeships and you get a lot off. But as for free travel, when I hit 6th form, I lost mine - although I was in the same establishemnt.

Free travel to school? We never had that when I studied, you lucky thing.

Go where the course/career route you are interested in will take you. If your school has the best courses then stay there - I know there are disadvantages to staying at the same school but 6th form is different from other years

If you were trying to be cute by misspelling ..you weren't ! If your school has not taught you proper spelling ..change schools. No matter what you do in life you need to be able to communicate effectively and their is no reason for such misspellings when you have spell check at your top right-hand side.
No employer will offer you a paycheck and free travel if you cannot communicate effectively.

Is there a 6th Form college nearby. You'd find that very diiferent from school - more laid back. That's where I did my A'levels.

What about going to college? It is a totally different atmosphere to school and you can gain more qualifications while you decide what career you want to go into.Good luck.

You need to go back to school and learn to spell. Plus you are joking to see how many responses and what type of responses you get.
