can someone tell me what the difference btwn pep squad and cheerleading is?

Pep squad generally only participates in cheering for other teams and promoting school spirit, whereas cheerleading can incorporate everything from the smallest teams that also only cheer for other teams, to vast and highly athletic competitive all star programs where all they do is compete. They do run basically along the same lines but cheerleading combines so many other variations and types.
