i think its a disgrace! mcclaren is only doing it because thats what the public wanted. Is he seriously saying that players such as wright phillips are better than beckham??? even if beckham doesn't make the first 11 he definately needs to be part of the squad

McLaren has done it to prove straight off that he is not afraid to make big decisions, and also to distance himself from the appalling world cup performance that he was actually part of.

I am a big Beckham fan and think that he has always given 100% for England, even when off his game, but I am looking forward to seeing more of Lennon or Wright Phillips running at people down the right.

There should however still be a place in the England squad for Beckham, and I think to deny him his last 6 caps to make 100 when he could do ten minutes in every friendly is just churlish.

I also listened to Talk Sport yesterday and was disgusted by all the fat sunday afternoon pub team wannbees who came on to slag Beckham off and blame him for everything from the World Cup performance to the gulf war. Some people in this country just cannot deal with people being succesful.

Beckham although still an excellent footballer isn't England. There are a whole host of players coming through and they should have a chance. Playing friendlys is the ideal time to try out change because winning or losing doesn't matter.

The side will not be the same without him though... but we say that about all the good players that have gone before...

i think its about time to. he isnt the same player he used to be and lenon can do better. ericson was just too scared to drop him. hopefully tho, this will give beckham the kick up the backside to try and play better to get back in the england squad.

It's about time. Although I think it smacks more of McLaren making his mark than anything Beckham has done wrong.

Somebody had to go - playing Lampard, Beckham and Gerrard just doesn't work.

Totally right decision .. atm Becks is playing pretty poorly .. the moves made Becks want to improve so he can come back into the team .. i reckon Steve McClaren made the right decision coz he really needs to improve

Every player no matter how good will be dropped eventually. He didn't do enough in the world cup so he was dropped.

It's about time someone put him in his place and made him see that the team does not rely on him alone
