Give him a surprise party. Then he'll think that you didn't really mean it its ok i do it hardly ever but they'll understand if you set a surprise party and give him a present and tell him the most precisous words on god earth "I love and appericate you dad" and then hug him and say "Thank you father i got this speech of the internet" lol jk
But tell him "thank you dad 4 being there 4 me".

You should take him out to dinner and give him a heartfelt belated birthday card and a gift certificate to spend on whatever he wants. Be sure to give him a big hug and tell him that you love him.
