My RG 5 ran like a dog, and it wasn't the CDI, in the end. The two rear plugs had fouled. Go to the RG 500 owner's page, on the net, and i'm sure that somone ther'll help you out. I'm sorry that I can't be of more use, but I just don't know. I'm not sure if this link will be of use, but www.vjmw.org I hope that you find it. Good luck ( and lucky , you still have yours!)

Check on ebay in m/cycle spares or check various bike breakers for a secondhand unit from a written off bike. Kevin Keld Motorcycles of Pocklington in Yorkshire is a good starting point as he has a large seconhand spares dept.
What makes you think its the cdi, normally a fairly reliable part?

Good luck.
