I think we've all wondered that, at some point.

Try not to take any notice. Easier said than done, though, I know.

I suppose some people are just angry at the world, and have to take it out on us.

I don't bother criticizing grammar and spelling...and if someone asks an ignorant question, I'm more likely to ignore it anyway...I think that's fairer and kinder...I'm here to have fun and share my knowledge...it's quite rare that I'm forced to call someone out for being a total waste of humanity (though I admit it's happened)...but those are the most absolute extreme cases...I agree with you...not necessarily saying something nice or not saying anything, but if you have to criticize someone, is it that difficult to at least try to be constructive and supportive? There are admittedly a lot of apparent morons here that are beyond help, but I do believe the vast majority do treat this in the spirit it's intended to be...

" I didnt think you had to be a smarty pants genius to be on here "

You dont but if I cannot understand the question properly how
can I give a descent answer ?.

All these text speak abbreviations change the context or just
just turn the question into a nonsense, EG ... es wit ma [...] ..
es - means what ? is it a name ? ...
wit - does this mean that es has some level of ingenuity or intelligence ? ...
ma - short for mother ? or what ...

Can you see my point it makes no sense thats why I think at
least some effort should go into the asking ...

It is fun for them. They even think they are being funny, witty, amusing. They aren't thinking that it might upset some people, and/or not caring. Some people get off on belittling other people. It's a form of bullying, but they don't realise it.

Also they probably can't think of anything more constructive to say, or they just want to clock up points.

Some people might be on a Grammar and Spelling crusade. They put style over content.

cos there are some uptight people. i had a go at someone the other day in another catogary they were on about bad grammer e.t.c.
it does not matter about your bloody grammer so what it's a bit of fun where not at school . and if the people who get fed up of reading questions that are not perfect they should go elsewhere

Partly for points.
Partly because they have so much of the world to come to terms with that everything that is new to them, they show disrespect to or mockery of. It is an attempt to hide away from being worth something. If they can answer they do, but mostly they can't because they are still too often a child mentally.

I look at the questions, if I can answer them I do if I can't I skip to the next, how are we supposed to know if we can answer a question if we don't read it??? I would hate to think that I have made someone feel stupid because I couldn't answer theirs, don't you think that that is an unfair comment?

Perhaps the lesson you are failing to learn is that you need to learn to communicate effectively and that poor grammar, spelling, and even capitalization are good indicators that you haven't sufficiently mastered basic skills. If a child who cannot handle addition comes to me and asks about fuzzy numbers, I am not going to be able to make him understand the answer. It is better that I lead him back to learning how to add.

Because it is easier to criticise than praise people. Answering questions should be fun as you said. If not, you are on the wrong site.

They're just sad lonely people who don't get what this is all about, and get off on being nasty to other people. They'd probably be too scared to critise you face to face which is why they aren't likely to have real friends! Oh yeah, they're probably so obsessed with gaining points on here that they forget why yahoo answers is really here for!
