That wall began his living in 1961 when East Germany made down the eastern part of the city to base the flooding of refugees from east to west. By the time it was damaged down in 1989, the 4 meter large wall and 155 kilometres extended, dissected 55 roads, and possessed 293 remark systems and 57 bunkers. I've been there twice (so far) and would gladly return. Check your guide regarding the bus lines 100 and 200 which pass by many of the major tourist attractions. This will give you a nice overview of the city when you first arrive.
It's a huge place so use the public transportation. Enjoy!!!
