I think it is because the music pumps you up and gives you adrenaline which you wouldn't have if you didn't listen to it.

It isn't against the rule but in a race they wouldn't allow it, if everyone would bring it on the track would cause an unsafe situation by dropping it causing someone to fall or get injured.

NO, IT IS NOT CONSIDERED CHEATING.IT JUST GIVES US A BEAT, A RYTHM TO PERFORM TO.MAYBE IT GIVES US ADRENALINE TOO,BUT IT IS PURELY PSYCHOLOGICAL.NO CHEATING.
