Acetone is a solvent, and the industrial variety is very flammable, and requires special handling. You can buy it from a chemists' supply, but I cannot imagine you need it.

Go to a drugstore instead, and look in the aisle where the fingernail stuff is--it's the main ingredient in nail polish remover, and you can also buy bottles of pure acetone, which is not as difficult to buy as the industrial stuff.

If you need a lot of it, you can go to a beauty supply store and buy a big jug of it, which is sometimes easier than buying a lot of small bottles. Just ask the sales person for help in finding it. The nail tech I used to go to bought it in 1 gallon jugs, and it was cheaper to buy it that way than it was to buy a lot of smaller bottles.

Do use caution when handling it. Pure acetone dissolves acrylics, so you will need to put it in another type of container. It is highly flammable in all forms, so for goodness' sake, don't smoke while working with it!

Acetone is more commonly known as fingernail polish remover. You should be able to buy enough for any project that you need it for under the guises of fingernail polish and that should do the trick. The kind that you would get from a chemist would be the kind that you would need thick chemical gloves for and is very explosive.
