6,780 kg

4.52 g/cm * 100 (100 cm = 1 m) = 452 g/1 m
452 g * 1000 (1000 m = 1 km) = 452000 g = 452 kg
452 * 15 = 6780

first of alll you got the question wrong. its ' a cable has a density of 4.52 gram/cm...."
Lets break the problem in parts.

what you want to know first is how many centimeters are there in a 15 km cable. You need to do this because the density figure you have is in gms per CENTIMETER. (you need to use the same units of measure before you can perform a mathematical operation)
thats, 15 km x 1000m/km x 100 cm/m = 1,500,000 cm.

multiply this figure by the density so you'll get the mass.
4.52 gm/cm x 1,500,000 cm = 6,780,000 gms

to convert to kilograms divide by 1000 gms/kg
thats 6,780 kg

Assuming the question should have said 4.52 gram / cm3.

You've all missed the obvious one here, in that you are assuming the cable has a cross section of 1 cm2. If the cable was 15cm in diameter, your answer would be way out. Read the question FIRST, answer it SECOND.

Multiplying both numerator and denominator of 4.52 gm / cm by ‘k’:

We get 4.52 k.gm / k.cm. But ‘c’ = 1/ 100.

Therefore 4.52 k.gm / k.cm = 452 k.gm/ k.m.

15 km x 452 k.gm/ k.m = 6780 kg.

mass of 1cm = 4.52 g
mass of 1m = 4.52 * 100 = 452g
mass of 1 km = 452*1000 = 452000g = 452 kg
mass of 15 km = 6780 kg

This has to be a trick question because one doesnt convert to the other because grams is measured in weight or mass and km is an abreviation for kilometers which is measuring in length and grams cant convert into centimeters. . . i think

mass of 15km cable:

m= (4.52 gram/cm)(15km)(1000m/1km)(100cm/m)
= 6 780 000 grams

What are you 5 years old?

100cm = 1m
100,000cm = 1km
1,500,000cm = 15km

So therefore 1,500,000cm x 4.52gram = 6,780,000gram. 6780000/1000 = 6780kg

Easy~

Have a nice day
