I'm seriously considering applying for some jobs to teach english in foreign countries. Korea, Japan, Taiwan, maybe South America. What have peoples experiences been like good? bad? Any tips and suggestions.

Avoid Korea completely, absolutely. Those people are corrupt. Japan is OK if you like the money that the arrogant Japanese offer. Taiwan is fine, but trying. Check out the forums on the source below. You'll also find numerous jobs. Check them out. This is the world's premiere ESL job source. The Forums will also give you many tips...For example, avoid private schools in mainland China, go for government schools, which are legal and upright...Some people have bad experiences, mainly the naive or arrogant people who should have stayed home instead of traveling, but many, many people have enjoyed doing this job. I've done it for four years after I retired.

I think it really depends on the reason why you would like to do it! I mean you have to be ready to be home-sick, to cope with a totally different culture as far as working is concerned.
It's a great idea. I've done it in French, which is my native language and I had a great time but you'd better be sure about the place you're going to and what you expect from it.
