They have been with me for the last 2.5 years and I am afraid the big sad day will come soon. Should I bury them or throw them in the rubbish bin? What happens if 1 die before the other? Will the 2nd one die soon too? They are siblings.

I was told hamster has average lifespan of 2-3 yrs. I am not planning to murder them. Only expecting them to die from old age.

Unless something pychological happens due to them seperating, I dont see the other following suit right after. I gave my gerbil a nice little burial out in the backyard after losing him. It's a nice way to help remember your pet in a better way than if you tossed him out.

You should have a little funeral and bury them in your back garden. One will probably go before the other so put them in little shoe boxes and put them next to each other. If you love them alot I don't see why you should just throw them in the bin like a toy.

We buried our little Sweet Pea in a small shoe box lined with tissue and an inscription, then buried her in the back yard with some bricks on top and a little white cross. And cried like crazy.

when they die, bury them at the park in a quiet corner where noone walks. if u own the home u live in or parents/grandparents, bury them in a quiet corner there. chances are they wont die at the same time unless u have them in the same cage & they kill each other. give them all their fave treats & peace & quiet in the coming days. watch them but dont bother them.

I would bury them side by side in the back yard and put up a big rip sign.

probably, just take it in that everything has to die physically not spiritually..lol... well when my sis first hamster died she cried for like a week and buried it in our back yard, the second one in the front yard, the third one my mom threw away and the fourth one is still alive ( i think ).

To all who gave heart-felt answers to this question, Bless you.

To address the question itself, I could understand your question to how to give them a decent funeral BUT

WHY are your hampsters dying soon????? You plan to kill them or what??!!!
