I've been curious for a while what principles Europeans base their support of a given side in a conflict on. I can speculate, but, in all honesty, my speculation is not inclined to think very well of the reasons. So please speak for yourselves and tell me what motivates you to take certain sides and positions.

We must be on the side of Culture:
Grand Opera
Classical Ballet
Michael Angelo, Rubens, etc.
Mozart, Beethoven, Rossini
Great Choral works like Carmina Burana
Arabian Horses
Baroque Architecture etc. etc.

If you make the mistake of including the UK as part of Europe in any way, shape or form - and be advised that if you do, you and I will not get happy with each other - then we base our allegiances on what we think is right, and with the cultural, linguistic and philosophical closeness we feel to people of other nations.

But then, seeing as Brits ARE NOT Europeans, maybe that's a moot point. eh?
