how would yahoo prove we are actually adults?

I hear you, however such a forum will surely attract children and teenagers and there is no way of controlling who is and who is not an adult.

Suggestion: If you have a genuine question with a lot of adult words just type those words in numbers and make sure you explain to people what each number and alphabet stands for. I know it’s a pain but it should solve your question.

I hadn't noticed that people were exhibiting a lot of restraint on the Yahoo answers that we have.

If registration is required, they'll obviously lie about their age.

And I seriously doubt many people are willing to put in their credit card number for verification, just to be on Yahoo Answers...
