If it's VERY old and folk (or folkish), it might be a song by Fleming and Townsend, a Tennesse duo. I can't locate the lyrics, but their CD recently went on sale. More info can be found on the link in the "Know your souce?" section.

It might also be the following (though less likely):
COME BACK TO WAI-KI-KI

Lyrics: Roger Lewis; Music: Abe Olman

Sheet Music: Forster Music Publishing, Chicago

Recordings:
CD:

When I left Hawaii far across the sea
It was with heavy heart I had to part
From someone dear to me
How my heart was aching
When I sailed away
A sweet Hawaiian fair
Was crying there
And now I hear her say

Come back to Waikiki
Come back my love to me
Upon the silver sand
We'll wander, dearie, hand in hand

While stars in heaven gleam
We'll linger on the shores and dream
Across the deep blue sea I'm calling tenderly
On come back to Waikiki and me

Oh my heart is drifting to Hawaii's shore
Just like my ship at sea will drift with me
Back to my love once more
Down at Honolulu

She is waiting there
And then when I return
No more we'll yearn
Each other's love we'll share

Come back to Waikiki
Come back my love to me
Upon the silver sand
We'll wander, dearie, hand in hand

While stars in heaven gleam
We'll linger on the shores and dream
Across the deep blue sea I'm calling tenderly
On come back to Waikiki and me

Good luck.
