There was no first person on earth. Somewhere
there had to be a first population of human beings,
but a single "first person" would have had no
potential mate, so could not have given rise to a
population.

The statement (assuming it is correct) that we all
trace back to one woman and four men does not
mean there ever was a time when the whole
population of humans consisted of those five
people. It just means that the other members of
the population have no descendants still living.

Human beings are not descended from apes, they
ARE apes of a rather peculiar kind, which can be
distinguished from other kinds of apes by a few
differences. If the lineage is traced back far
enough it leads to something which, if it were still
living, we would probably call a monkey. The
question, if we evolved from monkeys why are
there still monkeys around, reveals lack of
understanding of evolution. There are many kinds
of monkeys and have been for a long time. They
are evolving in all sorts of different directions, one
of which happens to have led finally to human
beings, by what evolutionary accident scientists
are still trying to discover. Human beings were not
the goal of evolution, which has no set goals. The
direction of natural selection is toward efficiency
of reproduction, and has no way of predicting the
future.

studies of the human gene pool inform us that all human beings are the descendants of one woman and four men.
That rings a bell in reverse, remember the story of Noah arc in genesis, well - there you have one man and four women as our ancestors (Noah, his wife and 3 wives of his 3 children) so maybe Noah was a woman who had one husband and 3 girl
daughters with one husband each.
I always thought Noah was a feminine name.
so - Noah the woman was the first person, that is after everybody else died.
