Ebay is actually one of the safest ways to buy stuff- but you can do lots of stuff to prevent problems. Like before buying something from someone always check out their feedback- see if people who've baught from them before had to say. Also whatever payment option your looking into- like paypal you should always check out the information and risks thouroughly and always get insurance on your item being shipped.

I love EBay. I have never sold anything, but I have bought almost 300 items.
Make sure you protect your information and never give your password to anyone. You will need to start a pay-pal account to deal with most sellers.
If you ever have a problem, EBay has a resolution center.
You can qualify your purchase with EBay as an extra safeguard.
I always ask for insurance on anything I buy, It cost more but you are covered that way.
Good luck and have fun!

I would not say it's safe as there are many hackers that can get into your ebay account and get your credit card and or bank information. However ebay is a great place to earn easy money. At my job we sale thousands of our merchandise on ebay and have not had a problem - we do however receive a lot of "fake emails" that request for you to log on that is what ebay calls "spoof mail" some people do not recognize if the emails origin is from ebay or not as the email address does state @ebay.com - you can protect your self by going to www.ebay.com and logging on first answer all your emails from the ebay mail server and not from your mail server - if you feel your account has been hacked contact ebay immediately and they can help you.
You can literally make thousands of dollars on ebay as long as you have the right item to sale... Hope that helps you can also go to www.ebay.com and click on help they have thousands of forums that can help you.
