Well Babylon 5 Fan, I would go with the more positive fractal "Who Are You?". "What do you want?" inevitably leads you to conflict .
Oh yeah, I am Lord Z as the name shows you.

That is SO easy.
I want HAPPINESS.Everybody always says "if you had three wishes what would you wish for"? My answer has always been the same HAPPINESS.They say why not $$ or other stuff?I say it wouldn't matter if I had a GAZILLON $$$ I still might not be happy. So Happiness. Then it doesn't matter what you do or don't have cause you'd be happy with it no matter what.
Who I am became easy to define almost 1 year ago.I am a Hurricane Katrina victim.

For me, it would be "What do you want?" Oh, and Babylon 5 SUCKS! Practically a mirror-image rip-off of Star Trek: Deep Space 9. Gene Roddenberry had all the great ideas first.

I hope I can win this one with just a short but profound (and true) answer. > What do I want? < Although the lottery is tempting...What I truly want is "The TRUTH." I strongly crave the answers to every single question out there. That may be asking a lot, but I have always had an insatiable curiosity. I am living day by day, simply seeking the truth of it all.

It very much depends on who's asking or rather, on how much I want that person to know about me. In other words, i think it's inevitably contextual.
I would prefer to answer the second :-), it entails fewer consequences about who i actually am. One is not only what one wants or does, one is mostly what one thinks about oneself.
The answer to the first question inevitably communicates my patterns of thinking about myself ("Who are you?" a successful businessman, the ruler of Earth, a good translator, the mother of five, a fighter for the freedom of the press, john smith, a woman in love, a student in search for answers, someone who's interested in X, Y, Z.... each answer provides the frame of mind, together with the answer, and this frame of mind speaks more about me than the answer itself does).
As for me, I am a language specialist. I want to know.

I'd say what do you want? Then I'd answer Millions of dollars.
I'd only ask who are you if they were staring at me, in that case I may ask if I could help them. I had this lady once that came up and stood next to me and looked at me. (No she wasn't gay) she was just being nosy and critical of me. I asked her if I could help her and she said I should dress better when I come out in public. (I was dressed in a gray over-sized tee-shirt shirt and baggy jeans)

Probably the second question....although I am not exactly sure what is is that I truly want, describing who I am is much more complex, and they don't give us enough characters to explain fully.....but good question...

What I must necessarily be.
Nothing, my needs are all I want and those I already have.
But being a Who fan, I'd have to go with the former.

I would prefer to answer: 'What do you want?' as my answer is simple... 'I want to want for nothing'
'Who are you?' is a lot more difficult, I've been trying to work that out all my life!
