Does anyone need to confess to something that they've done, either as a child or an adult.
I broke my brothers leg when we were kids. I threw him and I blamed another child. My mum went beserk at the child and to this day I've never told her what happened.
Would you ever confess your secret?

No, I don't need to confess. Have I done something that should be confessed? I wouldn't do that here. In your case, I think you should tell your Mom. Then again, how do you know your brother didn't tell your Mom? And how do you know you haven't just told your Mom right now? Does your Mom participate in Y! Answers?
On second thought, maybe I will confess here: I'm overweight and my man-boobs are becoming embarrassing but I maintain a good sense of humour and outlook on life and I'm always surprised that women still find me attractive. What's up with that?
How much of this is true?
Why am I on Y! Answers at 3:30 a.m.?

Confession often only helps the person doing it and the listeners are often hurt. A balance needs to be found between the two.
I have done some pretty awful things in my life, but as long as I can live with them, why confess?
The Catholic church has the right idea - confessing to a stranger so the hurt is dissipated harmlessly.

Confession is supposed to be good for the soul but sometimes it is better to keep Pandora's box firmly closed ! You have confessed here, better just to leave it at that, also you don't say how old you were. We can all do things we shouldn't when in a rage so forgive yourself and hold your peace in the cause of family harmony.

Always confess! Then forget and get on with life! Guilt holds the memory in your energy body and stops you from being free! The fact that you still remember it confirms that some of your energy is locked up in storing this information.
How much easier would it have been to have confessed at the time? Then you wouldn't be still clinging on to an unnecessary memory now.

What harm will it do to be honest and confess
If you don't and it hap-pend in your child hood you hold that against your self till the day you confess or die: As you have to face your brother every day shall we say so i think a confession will do no harm : You will just gain all the way::::::::::::

I would leave it alone. If it's something that she still brings up then tell her, otherwise why open old wounds. As tramatic as it was I'm sure she's well over it by now and telling her would just open up a whole new wave of negative emotions. You could, perhaps, tell your brother if you think it would ease the guilt. he most likely won't trip and would easily forgive faster than you mother. If you you do decide to tell her do it over the phone or in a letter. You've heard the old expression, "If looks could kill..."!

I wonder if confessing your lie has alleviated your feeling of guilt.
I confess that I am not always as in compliance with my principles as I would like to, and that sometimes bothers me for a day or two, but I end up having to come to terms with it.
