Thanos. Ok yeah they are both very powerful but Thanos is far more superiour then Ion, but only if he has the Infinity Gauntlet. Once he has that, Thanos becomes the 2nd most powerful being, he could take down Galactus and Eternity if he wanted to since he can control people. A better match for Ion would be Beyonder or Pheonix, not Thanos, he would own Ion if they would ever get in a fight although Ion's powers are awesome too.
Winner: Thanos (with Infinity Gauntlet)

I do admit i like both marvel and DC, however, i think if thanos has all the gems, he'd have an edge, though he might find his hands full as well...

I am a fan of both comics, but I think it would be Thanos with the infinity guantlet fully loaded with all the gems.

all i have to say on this subject is i have all the infinity gauntlet comics and have had them since i was in 7th grade i'm 27 now one of my prized possesions the whole trilogy. is in my safe at home
