Yes you can visit inmates. Most prisons have shceduled days for visiting. You do not need a passport - just some ID. Ask the prison when visiting times are.

you can e-mail the warden and ask for that prison. search for department of corrections/ the state the person os being held in

once in click the link to the facility. then e-mail the warden from that site.
