My cousin is almost 7 months pregnant and has never felt the baby move. She has been to her doctor who hooked her up to a sonogram for 2 hours!! In that time, the baby only opened its hand. Even with the stimulations they do, the baby never moved. The doctor refered her to specialists (neurologists, genetic counslers) and they have run dozens of tests, none of the results are back yet.
My question is: What could this be?
Has anyone ever heard of anything like this?
I want to look up diseases and syndroms on the internet but need some ideas.
I won't scare her, I just can't sleep and want something to do.

dont panic ...some babies arent very active... the best thing to do is to talk to the doctors the fact that she was hooked to a sonogram for a few hours makes me think the doctors were a little conserned...check out http://pregnancy.about.com/cs/signssymptoms1/l/bl082700a.htm?terms=signs+of+labor wont help you sleep but will give an idea maybe of what is going on.

Well I did see on Televison one time (I think Trama Life In the ER) that this woman came to the ER because she was having these real stomach pains. When the doctors were ready to see her she couldn't even get up from the chair in the waiting room and was screaming because she was in pain. One of the nurses came out and noticed blood dipping from her legs. The woman had a skirt on so the nurse just looked up and saw a baby head sticking out. Now this hospital wasn't one that delivered babies but they had to that night. The baby was born and was very healthy. The doctor asked the woman if she knew she was in labor and she said no. So the doctor was like this must be your first time having a child. The woman told him she had two other children and she didn't even know she was pregnant. Her period had been on the whole time and the baby never kicked or moved around. Her baby turned out just fine I guess. It had a good set of lungs and was pulling his legs and arms from the doctors.

There is something seriously wrong with a 7 month fetus that does not move. Please wait for the results before you panic. The baby could be stillborn, or it could have serious brain problems. Wait for the tests. The doctor should have explained things to her.

This sounds VERY abnormal! Check in with a doctor because really, no one here can help you with this. Something is not right with the baby and there really is nothing YOU can do. Your cousin needs to get to the doctors again.
