I love Charente Maritime - just south of the Breton Peninsula. Lovely countryside, beautiful beaches, and not too far to travel. Depends what you want to do though. La Rochelle area has lots to do - historical town, loads of super restaurants, islands to visit, good beaches .Further south in the 'Landes' region you have large lakes that are good for sailing, and huge beaches on the Atlantic for surfing. You have to be careful, though - the sea can be a bit dangerous here. Then, near the Spanish border, resorts like Biarritz which have all the amenities you would expect from top resorts, plus the Pyrenees in the background, and the chance to pop over to Spain if you want! Bonnes vacances!
