I could only hypothesize with your question for its socio anthropological scope is so complex as to be envisioned as if a theoretical pseudo-reality.
We, as a human race, would be extinct by now...why?
I don't know, maybe it is in the soil itself that makes this part of the world more prone to corruption. But I am open to possibilities to this morbid but interesting scheme of yours.

We'd have no science and technology like we do today. We would not have airplanes, cars, computers, cinemas, medicine as we know it. We would be pretty backward.
