No because that defeats the 'supposed' purpose of 'defending freedom'. How can Bush say we are defending freedom when he is taking it away on a daily basis.

No my dear, freedom is something that shouldn't be replaced by anything. Freedom gives you safety, if it didn't give you safety for u it will provide safety to the following generations, while selling freedom will never make you safe because at any time safety can go just like this.

Freedom for/or Safety? Not a question for the young at heart. My PERSONAL opinion is no, because safety is not a guarantee. What is? If you decide for safety you will and can be a prisoner in your own home, if you decide for freedom you are limited only to what you can imagine and want to be. It is all about personality types. Peace of mind/Safety can be very important to the certain personalities. The question is, what is most important to you?

I do see what you mean although you have the quot wrong. We have been ask and in some cases told we need to give up some freedom to be safe. I would rather die by a bomb than live under a controlling government.

I'm unsure how to answer your question. Freedom cannot be bought, it must be earned. The American Revolution was fought to earn America's independence from Great Britain. It was necessary that men leave their homes and families, to risk all in order to fight for freedom. You can't always be safe but you can be free and by earning that freedom, you can be safe. We deserve both and I believe we will always be ready to defend our freedom and thus our safety. Good question.

Finally a smart kid! No it doesn't make any sense at all to give up ones freedom for safety. You attempt to make it safer. No one can assure you, or anyone else, that they are any safer right now than they were in 2001! We could be attacked tomorrow.
I am not going to live in fear and if I die, well, I will have done no more than those who died in combat for our freedom!!

You are a very bright "kid" and the answer is it doesn't make since. If we give up our freedoms we are the same as countries we are fighting to liberate. Keep on listening and wondering and know, the truth is in your head and your heart....not in the newspapers and on the television news.

That's a choice people have made at least since medieval times when serfs first decided to live under the protection of lords. Once the choice is made by your ancestors, there's often no going back on it. "Freedoms" are lost very easily but are very difficult to regain.

Your Ben Franklin said it best "Those who trade essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty or safety." He may well have been describing today. What ever it is a immortal truth.

No kid. You're very right and also very bright. Never let a political party (or anyone) take away your freedom. And don't let the conservative retards get you down. Never give up your ideals.
