I tried to watch a movie last night. It was sub titled.
In one scene I had to read the subs, read the letter
the man was holding, read a headstone, and look at the
surroundings to get the gist of the story.all at the same time. I hate sub titles, while you are reading them you miss the facial expressions, and sometimes you dont get time to finish, let alone read a letter and a headstone as well.

Yes yes yes yes yes yes. That is why I have to watch subtitled movies a couple times because part of the art of movie is how the actor "acts" with his eyes etc. you need those subtleties. And to rewind is rude if others are watching and interrupts the flow of the movie. I cant imagine how frustrated I would be if i was watching in a theater. Wow I didn't even think of this before but the deaf and hard of hearing have to go threw this all the time.. Gads, sorry that would suck. I love movies but that would just kill a lot of the joy. I'm glad it doesn't happen that often. Anyway I digress- You are completely right and i hope you got to finally see the whole thing. :-)

I watched a movie that was just made in the last couple of years that was about Hitler and the Holocaust. IT was a very good movie, but it was all in German. I had to read the subtitles which is ok, except it was on a cable channel that had no commercials.
The only problem with that is you can't go to the bathroom or get up to get something to eat or drink or you miss out on what's going on. A normal movie, you can still hear what they are saying if you turn the tv up and leave the room for a minute.
It was definitely frustrating, but a good movie. Glad I was able to see it. I would rather read subtitles than not to have any idea what they are saying.

Yeah i hate movies that you need to read the subtitles for!!!
You miss out on most of the movie just because of the fact that you have no clue what the people are saying, which makes you need sub titles.
I recommend not watching movies that you need subtitles for!!!

Yes, it definitely can be frustrating at times, but I've learned to just skim the text if it's going by fast. Subtitles really come in handy and they enable me to watch foreign movies and be able to understand what they're saying. And it helps for times when you learn a language, but aren't fluent yet.

Omg, that totally makes me frustrated! I am kind of a slow reader, so I get all anxious when I'm reading subtitles because I'm trying to "speed-read"! I also hate it when the subtitles are the same color as the backround...arrgh! =)

On occasion it is frustrating, however, I find that subtitled movies are actually fun to watch in most cases. I grew up watching them, so I suppose I am sorta' biased.
