I'm a huge basketball fan and my favorite player is injured with Plantar Fasciitis.

I hear it is the most common sports injury, but what exactly is Plantar Fasciitis, how is it caused, and how long would it take to recover ?

My sister has it. What it is, is the cartilage in the foot is hardened and swollen. It's VERY painful. Sometimes, my sister has a hard time walking because of it. It's neat though to feel it. You can feel it crystalized in the foot. Usually what happens is, they have to break it up by massage, and alternating cold and hot. Lucky for her, she's a Physical Therapy Aide so she gets all the latest treatments for free.

I don't think you ever fully recover from it. Somedays it's bad, and some days it's ok.
