Probably because we're adding more to the number, they are going up and forewards whereas subtraction and division are breaking up numbers and going backwards. It is easier to go forwards than to go backwards.

Addition is easy. We count forward. For example, add 5 to 15: 15-16-17-18-19-20. Counting backwards is slightly harder. For more complex questions (i.e 253+634 or 364-246) it is easier to think forwards rather than backwards.

That same principles are pro bally at work in multiplication and division.

Normally the basic things are easier than the opposite or the corollary , to follow.
Since the logic in both cases is the same a litle thought into the ' why ' of the process should sort the mess.

in division, we also use multiplication and in subtraction, we also use addition, that's why!
