Yes, most successful people start out in their family business.

I'd rather you garner experience outside before you decide if you wish to commit yourself for the rest of your life to your family business. Working for others also allow you a better perspective of how different companies run so you can compare other companies with your family business eventually.

But if your family business needs your immediate attention, you don't have much choice, do you?

Do you like your family?

Do you tolerate you family?

Do you like to spend time with your family?

Do yo ulive with your family?

If you have answered yes to any of these questions then my recommendation is NO. Do not work for your family.

Get some outside eperience, make a good name for yourself in the field you have chosen and in a few years, open your own business or branch of your family's business.

With the knowledge you gain from the outside work experience you can contribute to the overall success of the family trade.
