The sampling and analytical tools can vary widely depending on the specific project. Bacterial Ecology would require specific apparatus different from aquatic ecology, different from desert ecology, different from forest ecology, etc. etc. Ecology utilizes many other scientific disciplines such as geology, meteorology, botany, zoology, microbiology, chemistry, etc. etc. and so may require the tools of these disciplines. They would all have in common a method to record and analyze the data. In recent years, that would be computers.

i forgot what they were called but we used soil testing and water testing kits in our ecology. also, for some test, you need to titrate so you still use the usual stuff (flask, buret, etc).
