Cosby was great. What I love was how his comedy easily translates beyond generation and culture lines. I could listen to the albums back in the 70s and 80s, and understand the humor. Short of 200mph ("faster than anything Steve McQueen drove"), there were almost no cultural references to which I had no exposure.
Many of the other comedians were too topical. Rich Little's impressions? How do I know who he's impersonating?
Celebrity Roasts, who are these old people?
Richard Pryor and George Carlin? Yeah, like my parents were going to let me listen to those.
