Labor is different with every women and every pregnancy!
Regardless if you knew what it felt like or not it will not change the fact that she is going to be the one to go through it and not U the best thing U can do is comfort her and don't leave her side and do what ever she says! But all of my labor's were mostly the same they all started out with small cramps like premenstrual cramps and gradually after time they came faster and stronger.

Congrats on the little one!
Labor is intensely painful, so much it's impossible to describe. However, our bodies are made for childbirth, and it's not the same type of pain as smashing your finger in a car door.

Just try to help make her comfortable, and be within an arms reach when she needs something. You'll be worn out when this is over, but it's a wonderful experience.

There is NO way to really describe labor pains. They can be EXCRUCIATING for some women & not for others. All depends on pain tolerance.

Imagine if you will a THROBBING headache. The pounding & constant throbbing. MAGNIFY that ohhh hmmm 100 times THEN ADD EXTREME TIGHTENING. AND that isn't even the start of labor!!!

Labor is like a HUGE Charley Horse or Muscle Spasm MAGNIFIED 100 times over WITH tightening/loosening.

About the same difference as shi.tting a watermelon. They have that shot you can take in the spine (epidermal) sp? and it makes all the difference in the world. They need to reach a certain stage until they are able to receive this shot-but it makes the delivery 50,000 times easier. They will still suffer the first couple hours no matter what, but when the mother receives that bundle of joy the pain is soon forgotten.

Bless your heart...There's no way to truly describe it, so I'll put it like this.....It's the closest a woman comes to death without actually dieing. It's a scary thought, isn't it? And the death would be by being beaten to death. Ain't let me tell you....it's not a good feeling. The reason it's so hard to tell EXACTLY what it feels like is b/c the woman can never remember EXACTLY what it felt like after. Because it's such a painful experience, the mind dulls it afterward. Take care of her. Sounds like you're doing a good job already. God Bless!

If you can imagine having a head-on-collision over and over and over again, that's what child labor feels like. It's such an extreme level of pain, that a woman can start to feel out of control of herself. I can remember thinking "I can not do this anymore", so please just bear with your wife and don't in anyway take anything she says or does personal while shes in labor. Good luck to the both of you!

Try passing a bowling ball through your penis. There really is no way of describing it.After my last birth my husband asked me why my whole body was convulsing before my epidural, that was extreme pain! I've had 3 kids, and you still don't get used to it.

Just be there for her and be strong. She'll have a lot of pain but she'll be just fine with you by her side. When she finally holds the baby in her arms the pain doesn't seem to have been so bad.God bless you all!! This is a wonderful time in your lives.
