In rural areas that use cowdung to create bio-gas (something similar to methane) while in urban areas they earlier used kerosene which has now been replaced to a very large extent by liquified petroleum gas (LPG) and piped natural gas (PNG).

nothing. indians use small fires, but not stoves, big or small. and the fuel for the fire may be dung, grass, small pieces of wood. for the indian, a small fire was sufficient for all that they needed it for.

The poor things use Kerosene... it's dangerous and smelly.

Basically they use kerosine which is cheaper than Gas.
