Dual video card is twice the power. Pretty much overkill but everything you play will be nice. You don't have to buy a double video card. You can buy two of the same card and as long as they are PCI Express you can buy an adapter to hook them both together. Your motherboard has to have 2 PCI express slots though. Your processor has nothing to do with it. Dual core processor has nothing to do with dual video cards.

The technology has been recently become popular to chain two video cards together. You would have two cards and run a cable between them. My understanding is that the performance goes up dramatically (but not double).

A dual video card usually means that you have two ports on a single video card that you can plug in two monitors. If this is what you want to do, which I would highly recommend, (I have triple monitor and I love it), then I would recommend you stick with nVidia cards. I have a GeForce 6200 and it suits my needs well. Some of the nVidia cards don't advertise that they support dual monitors, but anything with multiple heads will, to my knowledge. I've tried dual support on ATI cards with poor results.

Dual core doesn't mean dual video card. Dual core means two processes on one processor. It's the processor not the video card. It's better for multi-tasking. Better performance.

actually, its not really worth it unlike most people think.
it all depends on the resolution that you play your games at. The higher the resolution, the more you can benefit from dual video cards. but at "normal" resolutions (1200x780) a single card is enough. you won't feel any performance increases. (on a 7900gt or gtx)

I depend on what you use your comp for? If you want to play games and use alot of graphics...better get a Dual and a powerful graphic card with 2Gigs
