ROME - Excavation near city hall has turned up the 2,800-year-old tomb of a child, more evidence that the Capitoline Hill was inhabited a while before the legendary founding of Rome.

Archeologists on April 15 showed the remains of a child -skull, pelvic and thighbones -who was about four or five years old and who was buried just outside the simple homes of the villages atop one of Rome's seven ancient hills.
Buried along with the child were terracotta and ceramic vases, whose handles were broken so, according to ancient ritual, no one could use them after the death of a loved one. Also buried near the child was a small animal.

According to legend, Romulus founded Rome in 754 or 753 BC. Experts believe that Rome was actually settled some time before those dates.

The spontaneous answer that comes to our mind in answering this question is 'memory'. But that is a misleading answer, because memory is a concept, not a physical level of existence. Memory is a temporary term that is apt to disappear as soon as the mind that holds on to it becomes in-operational (by death or malfunction), therefore, you can be half the way sure to say,"Nothing remains of a 'gone'."
Why half the way and not all the way?
Because there's the concept of religion to discuss. According to all main religions known to man, there is life after death, or, to be more accurate, a resurrection. They maintain that a 'gone' being will be brought back to life for a final 'settlement', or a 'closing of an account' - so to speak - where people will be rewarded or punished according to what they had done during their past lives on earth. If that is to be taken for granted, then we can say, "All of it" remains waiting for the doomsday or the day of judgment. Nothing is really gone.
You have to choose between the two extreme beliefs as an answer to your question. I.e., It is either "Nothing remains" or "Everything". It is up to you.
