On 9/11, and in the weeks following, many people spent as much time as possible watching 24/7 news channels. Like everyone I was very depressed and I associated news and depression. Since 9/11, when ever I'm depressed I turn on CNN. I don't know if this has happened to other people. I have found that the best way to avoid watching CNN is to log onto CNN.com. In a few minutes I can read about all the top stories and I don't need to sit in front of the TV all day waiting for the next disaster.

I read the local newspaper and I watch TV news but I have to admit I have to turn the TV off sometimes. The news is so sad and so bad I just can't listen anymore.I know it doesn't make it go away but some days it is awful and a person just can't take another story about abused children, terrorist, drivebys or stand-offs.

It depends what you're looking for. For the newspaper, it depends what places your newspaper covers. If it covers a larger area, you won't get a lot of news directly from your exact city. TV news includes only the are you live in, things that include the whole United States and hardly any international stuff. Reading online news depends if you are looking at www.yahoo.com or www.msn.com and so on. And just so you know, (like gossip) news can come from your friend, classmate, or co-worker.
