by the time I give birth!!! What is the reasoning you shouldn't color it while pregnant? Does the baby's hair turn out the same color or something? (Just a little joke) But seriously, there must be some risk of birth defect or something? Or is this an old wive's tale?

Hey Ive had 2 VERY healthy children and I am a hairstylist, you can imagine how many time I color my hair an dhow much color I come in contact with!!!!!

Color sometimes does not come up as fast or as light or as nice, Im pretty sure the birth defect rate is very low!! Id say if you are a stylist and have lots of contact with chemicals your rate might increase a little!

I believe it is perfectly safe to color your hair while you are pregant. I have always done it and delivered four perfectly healthy babies. I would probably have a professional stylist do it for you. You don't want to be touching the dye, mixing it, and smelling it. I am quite sure you will be fine. In the salon I go to, there area several of the stylists there that are pregnant and work with hair color everyday, and of course color their own hair. Congratulations on your new baby, and look beautiful for the birth!!

They just tell you not to dye your hair during the first trimester. After the first trimester most of the major organs are formed and in place, so the fumes aren't as harmful. You just have to go a few months without coloring your hair...Don't worry!!!

It is only a worry in the first trimester. My doctor said it was okay then and so my hair is now brown. Old wives tell to a point.

Dyeing hair has a risk of cancer. Having your hair show a bit of gray is a small price to pay for a healthy baby, isn't it?

the chemicals in the hair dye can cause birth defects... if you are really worried about it ask your doctor what they would suggest. i think there are some dyes out there that are not as harsh as others but i dont know i dont color my hair.

The chemicals in the hair dye can be absorbed into your bloodstream eventually making their way to the baby.
Some of those chemicals can cause birth-defects.
Hope this has helped!

My OB advised me to no longer do it, yet I did it besides in my 2nd trimester and had a sprint up in the previous my little one bathe. My twin boys went to 37 weeks and look healthful (5 months in a pair days). basically save the section (room) nicely ventilated whilst employing the dye.
