70% of all people with bipolar disorder self-medicate with illegal drugs and alcohol because they aren't being treated properly with the right legal prescriptions. The brain doesn't have enough capacity to produce relative quantities of neurotransmitters in bipolar victims. Some of those neurotransmitters are generated in excess with the use of meth, pot, coke, crack and booze - so it becomes a matter of the person trying to satisfy something that his body cannot satisfy naturally.
I'd suggest you get him to a psychiatrist who will prescribe him the right drugs for his condition, after being formally diagnosed. He may be clinically depresssed, schizophrenic, or just have a panic or anxiety disorder. All are very similar but require different drugs to control. Get him to the doctor right away and he'll stop using drugs and alcohol illicitly because the legal drugs will help his body produce what it really can't right now..

well i am bi-polar my self and have been for the last 25 years or so and this is what i have learn though classes and many-many
doctor apt.# 1 you need to get your husband in to a mental heath provider to see if he is really is bi-polar there are 2 stages of by-polar stage 1 is very common and there is stage 2 witch some people have i am not going to explain every thing to you about bi-polar i well let your doctor do that but one thing for sure he shouldn't be drinking or doing drugs at all.and people with bi-polar do have really bad mood swing and depression like you never that possible. and sudical though like i had.there is help out there
you need to call the police and see if you can since you are his wife and you think he puting his life or your in danger they could come and pick him up and take him in so a mental health care provider can talk to him i dont know but if i were you that is what i would do.

If you love him, help him. He needs to realize he has this problem. Get some information about Bi Polar and it's symptoms and share with him. If he refuses to read or listen..you could always call the police and place him in a hospital/rehab to get straight. Lots of Luck to you both.

Man, that's a triple whammy. He needs help, bad. And if he won't get it, you need to get out. I had a boyfriend with the same problems. I got out. It's really hard to get bi-polar people to stay on their meds. Good luck.

he is not bi-polar but he does need some help -- check him in into a rehab- its the drugs that make him act like that -- he needs to control them -- and if you love him stick with him and help him out through this problem and once he is clean he will relize what you did for him----

While he drinks, there is another control that has taken over. It is a control substance. You need to get him help. If he chooses not to, then you get help for yourself. There is help to be found. God bless you. It happened to me also. Someone could get hurt. Get help before it results to this.
