i post it over & over. 1syrian hamster per cage. dont try and force mating if they dont want too. plus it's so quick u prob wouldnt know if they had already but if they did then theyre done with each other. in the wild they immediately separate after mating. YES-separate them.

It depends on the species, russian hamsters can live in groups with one male and several female but they breed prolifically and there are lots allready. Syrian hamsters are solitary animals and will fight all the time until one or the other is dead. The female will only accept a male for mating during her ovulation which about every four days and usually lasts for about 30 minutes. If you keep them apart and when you can stroke the female from her tail to the head and she freezes then she is ready to mate.
DO NOT BREED THEM JUST TOP GET BABIES. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SOMEWHERE TO TAKE THEM FROM YOU.
A syrian hamster will have up to 15 young at a time and trying to house them at ten weeks when they start to fight will be a problem. You must take them away from mum at 5 to 6 weeks and split them males from female or you will get sibblings breeding together.

your female may already be pregnant and usually once the breeding process is complete the female wants nothing to do with the male.
keep them separated or you may come home to find one hamster and a patch of fur if you know what I mean. It happened to some hamsters I had a few years back.

I had hampsters about a month ago and i only kept them for about 2 weeks cause they wouldnt stop fighting, and i didnt want to hear or see it anymore. the girl i gave them to said they just wont stop until she had to get a separate cage. So maybe unless there in heat hampsters just cant live together.

Seperate.. and don't breed. If you don't already know that a male and female cannot live together peacefully, you should not be breeding.
Here's a forum with lots of good infos on hammies and what you need to consider if you want to breed. Please sign up there and ask lots of questions: http://www.hamsterhouse.com/cgi-bin/YaBB/YaBB.pl?board=Breeding;action=display;num=1015094127;start=0
