What could have been the best way for the two boys from the trench coat mafia to cope with their peers from teasing and harassing them at school instead of shooting everybody on campus and then taking their own lives?

For Josh S. they already went to the school counselors and staff. It was read in their diaries that the school staff, teachers failed them. So, I dont think that they are to blame.

More tolerant environment at their school. I'm a youth worker and I notice that increasingly kids are becoming more and more criticizing of other kids differences. Especially if their school is located in an area with a dominant demographic like the one Columbine was in.
If schools were more diverse and there were greater mixes of people in there, maybe that would help.

I live only a couple blocks from Columbine HS. This was a horribly sad event and to contiually try to point fingers and look for someone to blame makes me sick.
No one but the kids are to blame. The parents probably have a bit of blame as well but pointing fingers at the cops or the school is insane.
Everyone is teased in school. Kids need to be armed with the wits and confidence to be able to cope. If a child has been raised and encouraged and loved things like this wouldn't happen.
It seems a lot of parents act like kids are trouble and a hidderence in their lives and schedules. Thats where things need to start.

Everyone is at fault. The other students, teachers and school officials for not stepping in when these boys were teased. The parents for not paying enough attention to their sons and seeing what evil they were doing. The boy's friends for not reporting any of the information they knew. And of course the two murderers for being the cowards that they are and murdering innocent people.

I was teased and harassed, and I grew up without killing anyone. It wasn't my parents, it wasn't the church, it wasn't anything or anyone who led me to a better life but myself.
The boys of Columbine were selfish, bratty wimps and they alone are responsible for their actions. Not their parents, not the school, not the jocks, and not the videogames. They had a choice, and they are terrorists. Everyone wants to point fingers and try to understand the deep inner pain of these guys and try to pick away the logic of the social pressures of high school. No one is trying to pick away at al Quaida or discussing Bin Laden's childhood to help cope with the situation. They are terrorists, end of story. SELFISH idiots.

I don't think there is a simple answer to that. If there was, there wouldn't continue to be school (or workplace or shopping mall or ...) shootings. I do think schools should take bullying and harassment more seriously and punish the guilty parties. Self-esteem and not just blindly following the crowd and how to stand up to bullies should be taught starting in pre-school.

There parents, they should have known a loooooooong time ago something was wrong. As a matter of fact on of the first 911 calls were mad by the father of one of the two kids, he said i think my son might be involved.

No matter what harrasment, what issues someone faces (especially in this situation) the boys who pulled the trigger are to blame, and I refuse to believe anyone else. They were well enough to stick up for themselves, go to someone, but they chose to take life when they still had a life of their own. No excuse. They are to blame.

a lot of people are to blame....but mainly the 2 idiot boys that did all the shooting. we all went through the typical high school crap......and looking back now...it was't worth killing countless innocent kids over.

Uhm, they should have talked to a counselor and sought some therapy as to anger management...Like a peer group maybe, or a professional psychiatrist.
